Volume was inspired by my travel encounters in New Zealand's South Island. Out of all the countries I have traveled to in the world, I have to say New Zealand has one of most beautiful, stunning landscapes. Driving for miles on an open road in the foothills of Wanaka, we stumbled upon gorgeous purple lupins and vast green leaves. Lupins only have their peak bloom period for about 5 weeks each year, and we were were lucky to have experienced them during that time (christmas time). Technically, lupins are considered weeds, but they definitely are the most beautiful weeds I have ever seen. I was so moved by this experience, I decided to make a few paintings inspired by their color palette!
